While international academic recognition remains selective rather than extensive—with eight Nobel Prizes awarded to Chinese scientists through 2023 current investment levels and institutional upgrading point to a continued rise in global scientific visibility over the coming decade.

University residence housing generally costs between €140 and €370 per month, while private apartment rentals range from €275 to €920 per month, depending on location and quality.

There is no standardized national financial requirement for student visa applications. Universities typically recommend a monthly budget of €370 to €550 to cover accommodation, food, and daily expenses. Living costs vary significantly by city, with Beijing and Shanghai substantially more expensive than secondary urban centers.
